Ms. James is the founder and chief executive officer of Mercaris, a company that provides cash market information and an on-line trading platform for physical commodities. Mercaris focuses on organic and non-GMO corn, soybean, meal, and wheat markets across all regions of the United States and Canada. Prior to Mercaris, she spent five years at the start-up company Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), and earlier was appointed by President Barack Obama as a White House Fellow and was Crain’s Chicago Business Magazine “40 under 40” rising leader. Previously, she worked with commodity banks in Latin America on risk management and income diversification strategies. She received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Kentucky and a master’s of business administration degree in international development from American University in Washington.
